An Gorta Mor (The Great Hunger or the Potato Famine) of 1845 to 1852 sparked the exodus of over 2 million Irish people, including many who came to St. Paul and to Minnesota. This legacy connects so many of us within the Irish community, and ironically, also connects the Irish to the first people of Mni Sota Makoce because the arrival of European settlers brought colonization, including great hunger, to the Dakota people. Is there an opportunity for healing through public art that addresses these sorrows? We want to hear what you think! Refreshments provided.
